People always look at you twice when you say you're an archaeologist - some of them are excited to meet an archaeologist for the first time, others wanted to be an archaeologist when they were a kid.

Underground Overground Archaeology is a whole team of archaeologists, artefact specialists and historians, and together we're investigating Christchurch's history through its archaeology. Which is a whole lot of fun! And so interesting! It's also a real privilege to be able to do this work, to learn more about our city, and the lives of those who built it.

The work we do is governed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. You can find out more about archaeology - and the relevant legislation - on their website.

We also have a blog that charts our adventures in archaeology: blog.underoverarch.co.nz
